
In response to the rapidly growing market demand for electric vehicles and 5G communications, Yageo is mainly promoting transient suppression diode (TVS) protection devices made by semiconductor diffusion process.TVS is a semiconductor diffusion process made of a single PN junction or a plurality of PN junction components. TVS has high reliability, low dynamic internal resistance and low clamping voltage, and has a faster response time than other overvoltage protection components. TVS has the characteristics of high breakdown voltage accuracy, breakdown voltage is generally ±5% deviation. Based on the above advantages, it is suitable for the occasions with high requirements for protection devices, such as: automotive electronics, industrial control, lighting and communication industries; DC power cord, RS485 interface, communication power supply and I/O interface applications.
For applications with high protection requirements for automotive electronics, TVS with fast response speed, high reliability, low clamping voltage and small package has become a key protection device. For example, the DC power input port of the 24V system automotive electronic products, due to the complex use environment and the variability of driving environmental factors, the throwing load will produce a large interference pulse, causing damage to the DC/DC and integrated circuits of the automotive electronic products at the rear level. In order to ensure the safety and service life of the car, it is necessary to respond quickly when the throwing load occurs. With picosecond response speed and precise breakdown voltage, TVS can suppress interference in the first time.
In terms of communication applications, taking the commonly used communication interface -RS485 as an example, due to the long communication transmission distance, and its transmission line is usually exposed to the outdoors, it is easy to introduce transient overvoltage interference because of lightning strikes and other reasons, and RS485 transceiver usually works in a low voltage state (about 5V), its own anti-interference is low. There is no path to clear the first time disturbance of the transient voltage dry, if not properly protected, it is easy to cause damage to the communication interface chip, and the low clamping voltage advantage of TVS can be used as the preferred device for RS485 communication interface surge protection.
