XP Power officially announces Glassman's BQ series of 10kW high voltage power supplies for OEM, industrial and laboratory establishments requiring controllable DC power from 0 to 15kV to 0 to 100kV. This fast-responding product features tight voltage regulation with better than 0.005% voltage regulation for line regulation and better than 0.01% voltage regulation for load regulation. In a master-slave configuration, up to 5 modules can be connected in parallel, producing up to 50kW of power.
This 19-inch 7U rack-mountable product combines the latest design topologies and operational features with proven reliability at an attractive price. The input of the BQ series offers 208Vac three-phase as standard, however, to meet global demand, 200Vac, 380Vac, 415Vac and 480Vac options are also available. Efficiency at full load is typically greater than 80%, and ripple is typically less than 0.05%RMS of rated output voltage.
All modules comply with the EN/IEC61010 standard safety certification, and have the CE mark of the RoHS directive. The product also meets EN61000-6-4 conducted and radiated and EN61000-6-2:2005 immunity standards. Application areas include ion implantation, additive manufacturing, electron beam welding, sputtering, vapor deposition and plasma sources.
A key feature of the BQ series is that all modules are air insulated. Using air as the primary dielectric medium saves fuel or seals, which means it is lightweight, weighing under 40kg, and is easy to maintain and service, reducing overall costs.
All modules can be switched between constant voltage and constant current modes with automatic switching. This feature protects against overloads, arcs and short circuits. A rear panel switch allows selection of constant current or current trip mode. In addition, to manage the arc, the BQ series power supplies have arc extinguishing and arc counting functions. The first function suppresses the high voltage output for a short time after each load arc to help extinguish the arc. Arc count prevents system or load arc problems beyond factory set parameters. It uses an internal circuit to calculate the arc that occurs within a given time, and shuts down the power if necessary to clear the fault, then automatically restarts after a pre-set "off hold time".
