Wurth Elektronik presents a very compact and cost-effective MEMS digital humidity sensor in the WSEN-HIDS series, available in a DFN package size of just 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 0.5mm for SMT assembly. The MEMS humidity sensor has a measurement accuracy of ±1.8% RH in the relative humidity range of 20% to 80%.

     Wurth Elektronik presents a very compact and cost-effective MEMS digital humidity sensor in the WSEN-HIDS series, available in a DFN package size of just 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 0.5mm for SMT assembly. The MEMS humidity sensor has a measurement accuracy of ±1.8% RH in the relative humidity range of 20% to 80%. With an operating current of just 0.4 µA and an operating power supply voltage of 1.08 to 3.6V, the sensor is ideal for distributed iot sensor networks, such as those in smart agriculture applications.


     The WSEN-HIDS series humidity sensors use dielectric polymers that can interact with water molecules to adjust the permeability of the capacitor structure based on the relative humidity of the surrounding environment. The sensor also integrates a temperature sensor and an analog-to-digital converter, and the instantaneous temperature and humidity information collected can be transmitted as 16-bit measurement data to the microcontroller via the I²C interface. The sensor has three optional heating levels of heaters that can be turned on temporarily as needed, so the sensor works effectively even under harsh environmental conditions and the measurement results are not distorted by condensation.


     The WSEN-HIDS range of humidity sensors is extremely versatile - from air conditioning equipment /HVAC systems to data loggers in the food industry, to smart buildings, vertical agriculture and other applications that require precise environmental control. To support rapid prototyping, the WSEN-HIDS series humidity sensors are part of Wurth Elektronik's FeatherWing Sensor and Internet of Things (IoT) development kit.
