Vishay's new SMD HI-TMP liquid tantalum capacitor saves substrate space and improves reliability

     Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of HI-TMP surface-mount liquid tantalum capacitors, the T24 series, which can operate at high temperatures of +200 C and is encoded in a small C shape. The capacitors are smaller in size and footprint than comparable plug-ins and moulded high-temperature devices, making more efficient use of substrate space and improving reliability for oil exploration and defense and aerospace radar applications.

     The capacitor has an external dimension of 9 mm x 7.1 mm x 7.4 mm and a tantalum metal housing with a glass-tantalum seal. The device is suitable for clock, filter, energy retention and pulse power applications, withstanding 300 cycles of thermal shock and a service life of 2,000 hours at +200 C, avoiding the use of larger plug-in devices in harsh environments.

     The T24 series derates at 200 ° C with rated voltages of 45VDC and 75VDC, tolerances of 33 µF and 10 µF respectively, and capacitance tolerances of ± 10% versus ± 20% for standard products. Device operating temperature from -55 °C to +85 °C, voltage derated operating temperature up to +200 °C, 120 Hz and +85 °C maximum ESR of only 2.5 Ω. Capacitors comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
