Vishay introduces single-way ESD protection diodes for commercial and automotive applications

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the availability of a new bidirectional asymmetric (BiAs) single-way ESD protection diode, VCUT0714BHD1, in a new compact side pad DFN1006-2A package for easy solder attachment. The Vishay Semiconductors VCUT0714BHD1 is space-saving compared to SOT package solutions and offers low capacitance and leakage current to protect high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.

     The diodes released today are standard ESD diodes with operating voltages of -7 V to +14 V or -14 V to +7 V and typical load capacitors of only 8 pF, suitable for commercial application port protection. The VCUT0714BHD1 also offers AEC-Q101 certified devices for automotive applications. Due to the short lead and small size of the DFN1006-2A package, the line inductance of the diode is very low, and it can clamp fast transient signals such as ESD spikes to achieve minimal overshoot or downshoot.

     The maximum leakage current of the protection diode under 7 V or 14 V operating voltage is less than 0.1 μA; The typical breakdown voltage at 1 mA reverse current is 7.3V or 14.5V. The maximum clamp voltage at 3.6A or 2 A peak pulse current is 15 V or 30 V, respectively. The VCUT0714BHD1 single data line transient protection reaches ± 25 kV (contact) and ± 30 kV (air) discharge as specified by IEC 6100042. The device moisture sensitivity (MSL) reaches J-STD-020 standard Class 1, and the fire resistance rating reaches UL 94 V-0.

     The protective diodes comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards, are halogen-free and support automated optical inspection (AOI) of automotive systems. Welding quality can be checked with standard eye inspection equipment without the need for X-rays.
