Vishay introduces miniature infrared sensor modules for code learning applications

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of three new series of miniature infrared (IR) sensor modules for remote control systems - the twin-lens TSMP95000 and the single-lens TSMP96000 and TSMP98000. The Vishay Semiconductors twin-lens TSMP95000 and single-lens TSMP96000 and TSMP98000 feature modulated carrier output for code learning applications, supply voltage ranges from 2.0V to 5.5V, and typical power consumption as low as 0.35mA at 3.3V.

     The device features a new, in-house designed IC designed to ensure long-term supply and shorten lead times, replacing previous solutions in a pin-compatible manner while improving performance. In addition to a wide supply voltage range and 50% lower power consumption, the TSMP95000, TSMP96000 and TSMP98000 have a bandwidth of only 30 kHz to 60 kHz, with excellent noise resistance, anti-ESD capability of 12 kV (human body model), and improve DC bright light direct performance.

     The sensor module can be used in industrial storage robots and learning remote control systems for consumer electronic products such as televisions, set-top boxes (STBS), stereos and game consoles. To simplify product design, each device integrates a photodiode and a preamplifier circuit in a monomer epoxy resin package used as an infrared filter. The surface mount TSMP95000 and TSMP96000 are packaged in Heimdall and Panhead, respectively, and the pin TSMP98000 is packaged in Minicast.

     The device is compatible with TTL and CMOS, and when equipped with a single TSAL6200 transmitter, the typical light intensity is 12 mW/m2 and the transmission distance is 1.8 m. Sensor modules comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
