Vishay introduces automotive-grade ultra-thin IHLP inductors operating at +180 °C

     Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new 2020 form-factor device, the IHLP-2020CZ-8A, extending its high temperature automotive grade IHLP® ultra-thin high current inductors. The Vishay Dale IHLP-2020CZ-8A can operate continuously at +180 °C with a height of only 3 mm, saving space in the environment where the engine compartment is used.

     The device complies with the AEC-Q200 standard and is suitable for DC/DC converter energy storage with frequencies up to 2 MHz. At the same time, the inductor has excellent noise attenuation performance in high current filtering applications in the self-resonant frequency (SRF) range. The device operates at high temperatures for automotive engines and transmission units, fuel injection drives, advanced driver assistance systems, exhaust circulation pumps, entertainment/navigation systems, as well as engine noise suppression, wipers, electric mirrors and seats, HID and LED lighting, filtering of heating ventilation fans, and DC/DC conversion.

     The high-efficiency IHLP-2020CZ-8A has a typical DCR of 3.95 mΩ to 195 mΩ and an inductance of 0.22 µH to 15.0 µH. The device has A rated current of up to 18 A and can handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The inductor is RoHS compliant and uses a 100% lead-free (Pb) shielded composite structure, which reduces noise to very low levels and has high resistance to thermal shock, moisture and mechanical vibration.
