Vishay Introduces Subminiature Commercial Version of Automotive-Grade IHLE Integrated Electric Field Shielding Inductors

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Announces New Commercial-Grade 5 mm x 5 mm x 3.4 mm 2020 Form Factor Devices, IHLE-2020CD-51 and IHLE-2020CD-5A, Expanding IHLE Family of Ultra-Thin, High-Current Inductors , its integrated electric field shield reduces EMI. The Vishay Dale IHLE-2020CD-51 and IHLE-2020CD-5A form factors are among the best in their class on the market and do not require a separate board-level Faraday shield, thereby reducing cost and saving board space.

     The inductor uses a copper tinned integrated shield to contain the electric and magnetic fields generated by EMI. When the integrated shield is grounded, the electric field can be reduced by -20 dB at 1 cm (above the center of the inductor). Inductors operate at temperatures up to +155 °C, 4 pins coplanarity less than 100 µm, suitable for DC/DC converter energy storage, frequencies up to 3 MHz, in the inductor self-resonant frequency (SRF) range Excellent noise attenuation performance in internal high current filtering applications.

     Applications for the IHLE-2020CD-51 include server and desktop PCs, notebook computers, high-current point-of-load (POL) converters, small high-current power supplies, FPGAs, and battery-powered devices. The IHLE-2020CD-5A is AEC-Q200 certified and is suitable for automotive engine and transmission control units, entertainment/navigation systems, LED drivers, instrument clusters, ADAS devices/sensors, PWM controlled motor noise suppression.

     The inductor package features a 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded composite construction with extremely low noise levels, high resistance to thermal shock, moisture and mechanical vibration, and can handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The IHLE-2020CD-51 and IHLE-2020CD-5A are RoHS and Vishay Green compliant and halogen free.
