Vishay Introduces Small Signal Schottky and Switching Diodes in Ultra-Small Packages

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announces the introduction of new surface mount small signal diodes, the 40 V BAS40L Schottky diode and the 100 V BAS16L, in an ultra-small wettable flank DFN1006-2A plastic package. These diodes save space, improve thermal performance, and are suitable for automotive and industrial applications. Both diodes are available in AEC-Q101 qualified versions.

     The diodes announced today measure only 1 mm x 0.6 mm x 0.45 mm, and offer a 90 percent reduction in board area, 50 percent lower height and improved power dissipation compared to conventional SOD/T packaged devices. To provide overvoltage protection, such as electrostatic discharge, the BAS40L is equipped with a PN junction guard ring.

     BAS40L and BAS16L Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) to J-STD-020 Standard Class 1 and fire resistance rating to UL 94 V-0. The diodes are RoHS and Vishay Green compliant, halogen free, and support automatic optical inspection (AOI) in automotive systems. Welding quality can be checked using standard visual inspection equipment and does not require X-rays.
