Vishay Introduces Single ESD Protection Diodes for Commercial and Automotive Applications

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of a new bidirectional asymmetric (BiAs) single-channel ESD protection diode, the VCUT0714BHD1, in a new small, easy-to-adsorb solder side pad DFN1006-2A package. Vishay Semiconductors VCUT0714BHD1 saves space over SOT package solutions with low capacitance and leakage current to protect high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.

     The diodes released today are standard ESD diodes with operating voltages of -7 V to +14 V or -14 V to +7 V and a typical load capacitance of only 8 pF, suitable for port protection in commercial applications. The VCUT0714BHD1 also offers an AEC-Q101 qualified version for automotive applications. Due to the short leads and small size of the DFN1006-2A package, the diode has very low line inductance and is capable of clamping fast transients such as ESD spikes with minimal overshoot or undershoot.

     Protection diode maximum leakage current is less than 0.1 μA at 7 V or 14 V operating voltage; typical breakdown voltage is 7.3 V or 14.5 V at 1 mA reverse current; maximum clamping voltage at 3.6 A or 2 A peak pulse current, respectively 15 V or 30 V. The VCUT0714BHD1 single data line transient protection is up to ± 25 kV (contact) and ± 30 kV (air) discharge as specified in IEC 61000‑4‑2. Device Moisture Sensitivity (MSL) to J-STD-020 Standard Class 1 and Fire Resistance to UL 94 V-0.

     The protection diodes are RoHS and Vishay Green compliant, halogen free, and support automatic optical inspection (AOI) in automotive systems. Weld quality can be checked with standard visual inspection equipment and does not require the use of X-rays.
