Vishay Introduces New Radial Fixed IHVR Inductors to Save Space and Improve DC/DC Converter Energy Efficiency

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announces the launch of a new IHVR radial fixed inductor in 10.25mm x 6.4mm x 10mm 4025 dimensions, the IHVR-4025JZ-3Z. The Vishay Dale IHVR-4025JZ-3Z features a new design that optimizes inductance, reduces internal DC resistance (DCR), improves DC/DC converter efficiency, and operates at temperatures up to +155 °C for computer, server, communication and industrial applications.

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announces the introduction of a new IHVR radially fixed inductor, the IHVR-4025JZ-3Z, in a 10.25 mm x 6.4 mm x 10 mm 4025 form factor. The Vishay Dale IHVR-4025JZ-3Z features a new design to optimize inductance, reduce DC internal resistance (DCR), improve DC/DC converter efficiency, and operate up to +155 °C for computer, server, communications, and industrial applications.

     Compared with traditional inductors, the recently released devices are small in size, adopt a unique radial fixation design, save board space, use airflow to improve cooling efficiency, and reduce DC internal resistance by 50% to 0.130 mW (typ), Current ratings up to 112 A. Compared to inefficient solutions, the new device's low DC internal resistance can significantly save energy costs over the entire life cycle of the server. In addition, its rectangular shape fits better with other board components, allowing designers to keep circuit board trace lengths equal and reduce phase imbalance.

     The IHVR-4025JZ-3Z is particularly suitable for energy storage in DC/DC converters at frequencies up to 5 MHz, and high current filtering below the inductor self-resonant frequency (SRF). Device applications include desktop computers and servers, low-profile multiphase high-current power supplies, point-of-load (POL) converters, distributed power systems, and FPGAs. In these applications, the inductor's inductance and saturation current are very stable over the entire operating temperature range of -40 °C to +155 °C.

     The IHVR-4025JZ-3Z adopts a 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded composite structure, which reduces noise to a very low level, has high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical vibration, and can handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The device is RoHS and Vishay Green compliant and halogen free.
