Vishay Introduces High-Voltage Thick Film Chip Resistors for Automotive Use that Save Board Space, Reduce Component Count and Reduce Processing Costs

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc has introduced a new series of AEC-Q200 qualified thick film chip resistors, the RCV-AT e3, with operating voltages up to 3 kV, in 2010 and 2512 frame sizes. Vishay Draloric RCV-AT e3 series devices have high operating voltage and can be used to replace multiple standard resistors in series. As a result, designers can save electric (EV) and hybrid (HEV) vehicle inverters, on-board chargers, and DC/DC converter board space, while reducing component count and tooling costs.

     The RCV-AT e3 series devices are available in resistance values from 100 kW to 100 MW with tolerances of ± 1 % and ± 5 %, respectively, and temperature coefficients of ± 100 ppm/K and ± 200 ppm/K. The resistors are rated at 1.0 W, have a voltage coefficient of resistance as low as 25 ppm/V, and operate from -55 °C to +155 °C.
The devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and suitable for processing on automated placement machines using wave, reflow, or vapor-phase soldering processes in accordance with IEC 61760-1.
