Trinamic Introduces New Highly Integrated Three-Phase Motor MOSFET Gate Driver IC

     The TMC6140 is a fully integrated general purpose three-phase MOSFET gate driver for PMSM servo or BLDC motors. External MOSFETs supporting up to 100 A motor current. Three bottom shunt amplifiers can easily sense current and enhance motor commutation. A switching regulator (3.3V, 0.5A, internal Schottky diode, up to 100 mA) generates enough power for the IO and external microcontroller. Additionally, it can be used as a boost converter to statically stabilize the gate voltage of the MOSFET. A DIAG output that provides UART communication for further diagnostics and two different power down modes are available.

Main advantage:

● Meet the requirements of small size and high integration design: TMC6140-LA integrates three low-side current-sense amplifiers for current detection and diagnosis, as well as LDO switching regulators; compared with similar products, it simplifies the design while reducing the number of components 50% reduction.

● Extended battery life: For 15V or lower voltage applications, switching regulators are used to provide a stable supply voltage to ensure a stable output signal is maintained throughout the battery supply period.

● Enhanced diagnostics: Integrated current-sense amplifiers provide current monitoring and report status information. Analog programmable short-circuit detection and diagnostic outputs provide status feedback to the host.
