Toshiba launches 40V/2.0A stepper motor driver IC without current sense resistor

     Toshiba Electronic Components & Storage Corporation announced that it has added a new member "TB67S539FTG" to its stepping motor driver IC product line, aiming to provide constant current control functions for office automation equipment, commercial equipment and industrial equipment. This new driver IC enables constant-current motor control without the need for current-sensing resistors.

     The TB67S539FTG adopts Toshiba's latest DMOSFET device [1], which can achieve a motor output rated voltage of 40V and a motor output rated current of 2.0A [2]. An integrated current sensor enables constant current motor control and eliminates the need for external current sense resistors. The H-bridge circuit used for motor control adopts an N-channel/N-channel configuration and has a built-in charge pump circuit for output stage control. In addition, this new driver IC does not require external capacitors (usually used to drive the gates of H-bridges) because it is already integrated inside the product. This helps save space on the printed circuit board.

     The TB67S539FTG supports motor drive power from 4.5V to 34V and is suitable for applications driven by 24V as well as applications driven by 12V, including surveillance cameras and projectors.To reduce heat dissipation during use, the TB67S539FTG is packaged in a compact QFN32 package. The output transistor drain-source on-resistance (high-side + low-side) is as low as 0.8Ω (typ), which helps reduce heat generation.
