Toshiba Expands Lineup with 10 Lineup of Power Line Protection Zener Diodes

     Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has introduced 10 Zener diode products in its "CUHZ Series" to expand its product lineup. These products protect semiconductor devices from switching surges, induced lightning surges[1], and electrostatic discharge (ESD).

     In the power lines of equipment, switching surges with long pulse widths of up to milliseconds on the order of thousands of volts can be generated when circuits are switched. The new products protect semiconductor devices from switching surges and overvoltages at frequencies close to DC. They also protect semiconductor devices from ESD and induced lightning surges of hundreds of nanoseconds in width [1] and pulse widths are also in the microsecond range. They absorb surge better with lower dynamic resistance and lower clamping voltage than existing products. Compared with the existing product CUZ5V6, the dynamic resistance of the new product CUHZ5V6 is reduced by about 88%, and the clamping voltage is reduced by about 37%. This reduces the surge voltage applied to the semiconductor device, helping to improve the reliability of the device.

     The package used is SOD-323HE (US2H), which has a high allowable power dissipation rating, allowing the product to be used in applications requiring high allowable power dissipation. The 10 products in the product lineup cover the Zener voltage (typ) range of 5.6 V to 36 V, supporting main power lines. The expanded product lineup supports various voltage lines and installation areas.
