The new AEC-Q100 Class 900V InnoSwitch3-AQ flyback switch IC for electric vehicle design

     Power Integrations, a well-known company in the field of energy-efficient power conversion for high voltage integrated circuits, announced the addition of its automotion-grade InnoSwitch™3-AQ flyback switch IC series, which offers a 900V rated switch. Provides sufficient margin for 400V and 800V EV inverters, battery management and thermostat control applications. The InnoSwitch3-AQ product family integrates primary and secondary controllers as well as safety-compliant feedback circuits into a single IC, requiring very few components and simple configurations to provide accurate and stable output voltages over an ultra-wide input voltage range of 30V to 1200V.

     Edward Ong, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Power Integrations, said: "Taking into account fault conditions and transient changes, the new 400V electric vehicle system design requires higher operating voltage, and the new 900V INN3996CQ IC provides sufficient voltage margin to meet the stringent certification requirements of the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC), ensuring safe and reliable operation in response to the changing automotive market needs." The new device uses the STACKFET solution for bus voltage design requirements of 900V and above."

     The constant voltage (CV) regulated and AEC-Q100 compliant InnoSwitch3-AQ switching IC achieves up to 90% efficiency over the entire load range and consumes less than 15mW no-load. For the 900V product family, the output power is up to 20W at 85°C ambient temperature and 400VDC input. The new device uses a multi-mode quasi-resonant (QR)/CCM/DCM flyback controller, 900V switches and a high-speed FluxLink communication link with Power Integrations to enable high-precision adjustment in a thin InSOP24 package and provides enhanced insulation at altitudes up to 5,500 m. The InnoSwitch3-AQ IC operates down to 30VDC, enabling automotive designers to use it for traction inverter emergency power applications.
