     Texas Instruments' TMAG5170 is a high precision linear 3D Hall effect sensor designed for a wide range of industrial and personal electronics applications. The high level of integration provides flexibility and accuracy for a variety of position sensing systems. The device features three independent Hall sensors on the X, Y, and Z axes. The precision signal chain and integrated 12-bit ADC enable high-accuracy and low-drift magnetic field measurements while supporting sample rates up to 20 ksps. On-chip temperature sensor data can be used for system-level drift compensation.

     The Integrated Angle Calculation Engine (CORDIC) provides full 360° angular position information for on-axis and off-axis angle measurement topologies. Perform angle calculations using two user-selected magnetic axes. The device features magnetic gain and offset correction to mitigate the effects of mechanical error sources in the system. The TMAG5170 can be configured via the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) for any combination of magnetic axis and temperature measurements. There are multiple sensor conversion schemes and SPI read frames to optimize throughput and accuracy. A dedicated ALERT pin acts as a system interrupt during low-power wake-up and sleep modes and can be used by the microcontroller to trigger new sensor conversions.

     The TMAG5170 provides various diagnostic functions to detect and report system and device level faults. SPI communication has a user-enabled cyclic redundancy check for enhanced data integrity. The device is available in two different versions to support a wide magnetic field range from ±25 mT to ±300 mT. The sensor has an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +150°C
