Texas Instruments TMCS1101 is an electrically isolated Hall effect current sensor that can measure DC or AC currents with high accuracy, excellent linearity, and high temperature stability. The low-drift, temperature-compensated signal chain provides a full-scale error of less than 1.5% over the entire device temperature range.

     Texas Instruments' TMCS1101 is a galvanically isolated Hall-effect current sensor capable of DC or AC current measurement with high accuracy, excellent linearity, and high temperature stability. The low-drift, temperature-compensated signal chain provides less than 1.5% full-scale error over the entire device temperature range.

     The input current flows through an internal 1.8 mΩ conductor, which generates a magnetic field that is measured by an integrated Hall-effect sensor. This configuration eliminates external concentrators and simplifies design. Low conductor resistance minimizes power loss and heat dissipation. Inherent electrical isolation provides a 600 V lifetime operating voltage with a basic isolation of 3 kVRMS between current paths and circuits. The device features integrated electrical shielding for excellent common-mode rejection and transient immunity.

     With four sensitivity options, the output voltage is proportional to the input current. The fixed sensitivity allows the TMCS1101 to operate from a single 3 V to 5.5 V supply, eliminating scaling errors and improving power supply noise rejection. When flowing into the positive input pin, the current polarity is considered positive. The device is available in unidirectional and bidirectional sensing versions. The TMCS1101 has a maximum supply current of 6 mA and sensitivity options are specified over the -40°C to +125°C operating temperature range.
