Teledyne e2v introduces a family of low-cost, high-performance four-wire CMOS sensors

     Teledyne e2v, part of Teledyne Imaging Group, Teledyne Technologies, Inc. announced Tetra, a low-cost, high-performance four-wire CMOS sensor family. Tetra sensors are ideal for food sorting, recycling, logistics, pick and place, document scanning, and other machine vision applications where monochrome, color, and multispectral imaging require high cost effectiveness.

     The Tetra sensor is available in two sizes: 2k resolution, 14μm x 14μm pixel size; Or 4k resolution, 7μm x 7μm pixel size, the maximum line rate combined up to 128kHz. Monochrome models can be configured to output 1, 2 or 4 lines, and color models can provide RGB and monochrome outputs. Because of the wafer-level dichroic filter coating, the sensor also provides spectral independent RGB and NIR outputs for multispectral imaging.

     Tetra is based on a synchronous shutter design, so low read noise as well as high dynamic range can be achieved with true correlated double sampling (CDS). Each channel has its own exposure control, so white balance is easy to operate.The ceramic LCC package enables high performance and reliability over a wide range of operating temperatures. The sensor data port has high signal integrity and a simple interface for rapid system integration.
