TI Regulators Simplify Implementation in Various Industrial Applications

     Texas Instruments' LMR43620/-Q1 (Automotive) is an ultra-small 36 V, 2 A and 1 A synchronous step-down DC/DC converter in a 2 mm x 2 mm HotRod™ package. These easy-to-use converters support a wide input voltage range of 3.0 V to 36 V, with transients up to 42 V.

     The LMR43620-Q1 is designed to meet the low standby power requirements of always-on automotive applications. Automatic mode enables frequency foldback when operating at light loads, resulting in 7 µA (typ) no-load current consumption at 13.5 VIN and high light-load efficiency. Seamless transitions between PWM and PFM modes and very low MOSFET on-resistance provide excellent efficiency over the entire load range.

     The control architecture and feature set are optimized for ultra-small solution size. These devices use peak current mode control to minimize output capacitance. The LMR43620-Q1 features a dual random spread spectrum, low EMI HotRod package and optimized pinout to minimize input filter size. MODE/SYNC and RT pin variants can set or synchronize frequencies between 200 kHz and 2.2 MHz to avoid noise sensitive frequency bands. The rich feature set of these devices is designed to simplify the implementation of various industrial and automotive end equipment (LMR43620-Q1) applications.
