TDK's Hall switch series HAL 15xy upgraded to ASIL-B

     TDK Corporation has upgraded Micronas' family of Hall-effect switches for automotive and industrial applications, the HAL 15xy. All current products are defined as SEooC ASIL-B according to ISO 26262. Modules equipped with the HAL 15xy make it easier to meet higher safety standards in automotive applications such as brake fluid level sensing, seat belt detection and brake light switches. *Production of the HAL 15xy series is already underway; samples are available on request.

     The AEC-Q100 qualified HAL 15xy offers many diagnostic functions and can be used in ASIL A and ASIL B automotive applications. Corresponding to more stringent safety requirements, the HAL 15xy has an additional, unique power-on self-test function. Customers can perform a full functional test of the sensor's signal processing paths and outputs before beginning standard operation to increase diagnostic coverage.

     Designed for trouble-free operation in the harshest environments, the HAL 15xy sensors are available with a wide supply voltage range from 24 V down to 2.7 V. Reliable measurements during voltage bursts at ambient temperature conditions from −40 °C to 150 °C and greater robustness to voltage spikes with load dump pulses up to 40 V. In addition, the HAL 15xy series meets high ESD levels up to ±8 kV (HBM).

     In the open-drain output three-wire version with short circuit protection and the two-wire version with current source interface, customers can choose from various temperature compensated constant switching points. In addition to the small JEDEC-compliant SOT23 SMD package, the HAL 15xy is also available in a TO92-UA package.
