TDK Introduces New MEMS Microphone with SoundWire Capability

TDK Group announces the T5828 SoundWire™ MEMS microphone, part of the SmartSound™ family of high-performance products ideal for mobile, True Wireless Stereo (TWS), Internet of Things (IoT) and other consumer devices. This high-performance microphone family pushes the limits of microphone acoustic performance, delivering more advanced functionality in a smaller package size. The T5828 SoundWire™ MEMS microphone features a high Acoustic Overload Point (AOP) of 133dB SPL, a high signal-to-noise ratio of 68dBA, and a wide dynamic range, making it suitable for applications ranging from very quiet to very loud.

● The new T5828 is a MIPI SoundWire™ compliant MEMS microphone.and in a small 3.5 x 2.65 x 0.98 mm bottom port package

● Provides 68dBA signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), acoustic activity detection, and always-on ultra-low power mode.

T5828 Microphone:

● Offers ultra-low power, wide dynamic range SoundWire™ Digital.

● Introduces Acoustic Activity Detection (AAD) to SoundWire™ microphones for the first time, allowing easy configuration within the SoundWire control protocol, from very low power 20μA general purpose activity detection to highly configurable voice activity detection capabilities.

● Create new sub-modes within the existing high-performance mode and low-power mode, allowing dynamic configuration of microphone performance, including:

○ Enhanced AOP mode, 136dB SPL

○ Ultra-low power consumption mode, 95μA (the industry's first digital microphone below 100μA).
