TDK Develops Industry's Highest Current Rated Inductor for Automotive Power Over Coax (PoC) Systems

TDK has developed the ADL3225VM inductor for automotive PoC systems. Measuring 3.2 mm (length) x 2.5 mm (width) x 2.5 mm (height), the inductor provides a compact solution for designers looking to reduce vehicle weight as manufacturers add more sensors and cameras to accommodate the expanding range of automotive and Advanced driver Assistance System (ADAS) applications.

     TDK Corporation has developed the ADL3225VM inductor for automotive PoC systems. The dimensions of the inductor are 3.2 ㎜ (length) × 2.5 ㎜ (width) × 2.5 ㎜ (height), and to accommodate expanding automotive and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) applications, manufacturers have added more sensors and cameras, the inductor provides a compact solution for designers looking to reduce vehicle weight. Proprietary structural design and wire-wound manufacturing process ensure high impedance within a wideband pass of 1 ㎒ to 1 ㎓. This inductor is AEC-Q200 qualified and achieves the industry's highest current rating in a 3225 size

     Increased performance in ADAS applications has led to increased production of electronic control units (ECUs), especially around view cameras and front-sensing cameras, which has increased the need for high-speed interfaces. Low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) with transfer rates up to 1.5 Gbit/s transmits the image signal from the car camera to the control circuit board. This process involves a PoC system that transmits data and power over the same coaxial cable. TDK's ADL3225VM inductor acts as a blocking coil, separating the ringing current from the power supply and increasing the current provided by the PoC system. The inductor supports an operating temperature range of -55°C to +155°C.
