Swissbit launches FIDO2 validator

     Swissbit has added a whole new product category to its portfolio of security solutions. As experts in industrial storage and security products, iShield FIDO2 is Swissbit's first authenticator for the FIDO2 open authentication standard. When logging in with iShield FIDO2, it provides extremely strong security for accessing web services and online accounts through asymmetric encryption and hardware security keys, and supports USB Type-A and NFC for mobile devices. This new validator is produced at Swissbit's Berlin facility, so it has a very high standard of workmanship and quality. If required, Swissbit Berlin can also customize the product. The main audience for Swissbit iShield FIDO2 are businesses and IT departments as well as online and web service providers who want to provide their customers with additional security features. A globally adopted standard, FIDO enables multi-factor authentication to prevent phishing attacks and supports a zero-trust architecture mandated by U.S. authorities and others since the beginning of this year.

     The Swissbit iShield FIDO2 is housed in a rugged, industrial-grade, water-resistant plastic housing that is specifically designed for a wide operating temperature range of -25°C to +70°C. The authenticator is small in size (5 × 18.5 × 6 mm), has a USB-A port, a rear touch sensor, and supports NFC for convenient "one-touch" authentication with compatible mobile devices. In addition to including the current WebAuthn and CTAP2 protocols of the FIDO2 standard, the authenticator also supports its predecessor U2F authentication.

      As a result, iShield FIDO2 effectively protects online accounts and web services from attacks such as phishing, social engineering and account theft. Swissbit security keys support all FIDO2/WebAuthn compliant and U2F compliant websites and services such as Google, Microsoft, Salesforce and Amazon Web Services, as well as Windows 10 passwordless login. Supported platforms include Windows, macOS, iOS, Linux, Chrome OS, and Android, as well as Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari browsers.
