Super Micro Computer, a global leader in enterprise computing, storage, networking solutions and green computing technologies, announced the introduction of new versions of its market-tested top-loading storage solutions with 60 - and 90-slot systems. And a new Simply Double storage system fully optimized for the latest third-generation Intel Xeon expandable processors and PCI-E 4.0 NVMe disk drives. These leading high-capacity storage and scaling systems are ideal for cloud-scale storage deployments as well as high-performance computing storage workloads.

Top-Loading storage system


Supermicro's new top-loading architecture delivers the flexibility, modularity and maintainability customers need. Both 60-slot and 90-slot systems offer single-node, two-node, and two-node high availability (HA) configurations. Two-node HA and single-node configurations control access to all drives in the system. A two-node configuration distributes drive control access evenly across nodes. With a modular, tool-free design, all key built-in systems, including hot-swapable server nodes, expanders, fan modules, power supplies and disk drives, are fully optimized for easy maintenance by a single technician.

 

Supermicro's new high-capacity top-loading storage system has been optimized for enterprise and cloud-scale environments. This vertical scaling and horizontal scaling architecture provides customers with configuration options for PCI-E 4.0 RAID or IT mode SAS controllers. These 4U systems feature 60 or 90 hot-swappable 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SAS3/SATA3 drive slots, plus two built-in PCI-E M.2 slots and two internal Slim SATA SSD slots. The single-node system also supports two rear hot-swappable 2.5-inch drive slots for operating system mirrors, or four optional NVMe U.2 drive slots for high-speed caching. The system supports up to 1.6 PB of cost-optimized storage capacity in the highest configuration, plus NVMe from the rear to provide up to 60TB of SSD flash. Both single-node and dual-node systems use dual-socket configurations, support third-generation Intel Xeon expandable processors, and provide 16 DIMM slots for each server node.

 

Simply Double the storage system


Supermicro Simply Double Storage Server is an industry-leading content delivery solution. This announcement introduces performance and maintainability enhancements to the overall design, supporting a third-generation Intel Xeon expandable processor in a dual configuration with 16 DIMMs while maintaining the same density of storage. It also supports up to four rear hot-swappable U.2 NVMe slots, allowing users to add flash without taking up any of the 24 SAS/SATA 3.5-inch slots. In addition to enhancing airflow, the innovative chassis design also simplifies system maintenance access to components such as the motherboard, CPU, memory, PCI-E slots, internal drive slots, and rear drive slots. In addition to these mechanical improvements, the system can also be configured with PCI-E 4.0 RAID or IT mode SAS controller options.
