
Siemens Digital Industries Software has released the latest version of NX™ software. As part of the Xcelerator solution portfolio, the new version of NX uses advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced simulation, while increasing its productivity and enhancing its capabilities, enabling designers, engineers and manufacturers to innovate faster.

Highlights of the new version of NX software include:
• The new NX Topology Optimizer topology optimization solution enables users to create parts based solely on functional and design space requirements, achieving fully editable convergent volumes that are nearly impossible with manual design and engineering methods. At the same time, unavoidable design changes can be handled quickly, while optimizations and any downstream features are automatically updated, saving time and labor, and maximizing the reuse of intelligent design and engineering data.
• Design Space Explorer The design space exploration solution combines design space exploration with generative engineering to help designers automatically optimize designs for different goals. Design engineers use existing parameters, constraints, and objectives to determine an optimization problem, and NX uses Simcenter™ HEEDS™ software to perform multi-objective parametric optimization, instantly providing designers with a set of viable design alternatives to choose from. Without this capability, the design team would need a simulation expert to perform this task.
• Selection Prediction and Select Similar Add artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) functions to the selection prediction and selection commands to quickly identify components with similar geometric structures through shape recognition. The NX Voice Command Assist voice assistant enables users to invoke commands, navigate multiple levels of menus and actions, and teach the system to use words or phrases to perform routine tasks. For example, ask NX "Have we done something similar before?" and it will perform a shape search using Siemens' Geolus® technology.
• Mesh structures in NX can now be optimized using Siemens' Simcenter 3D simulation solution to derive optimal meshes in a single environment, thereby eliminating several design analysis steps in traditional methods. In addition, the Part Orientation Optimization solution combines the nesting of parts (and their associated support structures) within the machine build area with an integrated cloud-based orientation optimization process to find the best build orientation with less thermal deformation. Siemens continues to build advanced capabilities in the field of additive manufacturing and is committed to helping customers fully optimize their design and manufacturing processes.
