SiTime low power MEMS oscillator is used in financial payment terminals and POS machines

     SiTime today announced that Square (NYSE: SQ), the world's trusted software, payments and hardware solution, is using the SiTime low-power programmable MEMS oscillator: SiT8008 for its financial payment terminals and POS machines. This oscillator is one of SiTime's most popular products and is widely used in the enterprise, industrial, mobile and consumer markets.

     The stability of the clock subsystem plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of POS machines. System vendors do have a variety of clock schemes to choose from, such as MEMS oscillators using a stand-alone clock device outside the microprocessor - SiTime - or on-chip oscillators on the microprocessor /SoC chip. Thanks to SiTime's superior MEMS and analog technology and system expertise, external MEMS oscillators like the SiT8008 offer 10-100x clock stability. In addition, the SiT8008's programmable architecture provides users with excellent configurability and ensures fast delivery.
