Sensirion multi-gas metering modules measure pure hydrogen, mixed hydrogen and natural gas

     SGM64xx: Proven and improved gas meter modules for a sustainable future The SGM64xx is the first gas metering module on the market that can measure any combination of gas including pure hydrogen, hydrogen mixed, biomethane, H, L and E natural gas . During the gradual or even complete replacement of natural gas by hydrogen, the use of SGM64xx series gas meters avoids the need to replace old gas meters and does not require any firmware update. Because replacing even a small portion of an in-service gas meter is significantly more expensive than installing a new one, with the SGM64xx modules, gas companies can protect against risk and significantly reduce future costs.

     Carbon neutrality, sustainable development and CO₂ reduction are some of the major trends in the world today. The gas infrastructure we are using must be ready for future renewable gas applications. For example, from 2025, all new gas-fired boilers installed in the UK must be compatible with pure hydrogen.      On the basis of the mature and reliable SGM63xx series, SGM64xx adds pure hydrogen measurement function, which improves the sensor to a new level. This functionality is achieved through an enhanced calibration procedure that does not require any changes to the sensor's mechanical, electrical and software interfaces. In addition, the SGM64xx can measure 3 times the flow range of hydrogen gas than natural gas. The gas meter remains compact regardless of the hydrogen content.

     Years of certification technology After years of accumulation, more than 6 million gas meters have been put into field operation, and the total reliable measurement time reaches billions of hours, which proves the effectiveness of thermal measurement technology. Two third-party studies have further confirmed the technology's long-term reliability in extreme application environments. In the study, gas meters that have been operating in the field for more than 10 years were selected for inspection. All gas meters are within field operating accuracy, and most of them even meet new gas meter standards. In addition, Sensirion gas meter modules are certified to EN 14236 and OIML R 137 standards, and EN 17526 certification is also in progress. On this basis, Sensirion further obtained the MID (European Measuring Instruments Directive) gas meter manufacturer certification.
