
High concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO₂) can adversely affect human cognition and health and well-being. Modern houses often use new energy standards to achieve higher energy efficiency and have excellent insulation. But in this way, CO₂ produced by human metabolism is likely to accumulate rapidly indoors, so CO₂ becomes a key indicator for measuring indoor air quality. Measuring indoor CO₂ concentrations allows smart ventilation systems to improve energy efficiency and human comfort when regulating ventilation. In addition, using air quality monitors and other connected devices can keep indoor CO₂ levels low, creating a healthy and productive environment.
The SCD42 is the latest model in Sensirion's SCD4x product line, designed for compliance with California's Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Regulation 24), providing greater cost-effectiveness for the U.S. HVAC market. Based on the principle of photoacoustic sensing, this game-changing innovation combines miniature size and excellent performance to open up countless possibilities for new integrations and applications. The SCD42 sensor has a range of 400ppm to 1000ppm with an accuracy of ±75ppm. Compatible with SMD packages, it occupies a small space, which helps equipment manufacturers to achieve cost-effective integration and space-efficient integration, improving design freedom. At the same time, a temperature and humidity sensor is integrated to realize on-chip signal compensation and additional temperature and humidity output. Not only that, SCD42 also has a wide power supply voltage range (2.4 V to 5.5 V) and strong resistance to external pressure, which can meet the different needs of customers.
