Samsung unveils new integrated circuit for bank card fingerprint authentication device

     Samsung has introduced the S3B512C fingerprint security IC (integrated circuit), which is designed mainly for bank cards to provide additional authentication protection. Cards with this kind of authentication will prevent lost cards from being used by strangers - a problem that is getting worse as banks raise limits on contactless spending, and fingerprint readers can also be used as an alternative to entering passwords.

     The S3B512C combines a fingerprint sensor, a secure element (SE) and a secure processor to add an extra layer of authentication and security to payment cards. The S3B512C is primarily designed for payment cards, but can also be used for cards that require high security authentication, such as student or employee identification, membership or building access.

     Samsung's new security chip includes a fingerprint sensor, a tamper-resistant secure element, and a secure processor. This allows card manufacturers to reduce the number of chips required in the card, resulting in better optimized designs for biometric card payments.

     Samsung's new chips meet various certifications, including EMVCo and Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (CC EAL) 6+. In addition, it complies with Mastercard's latest Biometric Evaluation Program Summary (BEPS) biometric payment card specification.
