Infineon Technologies supplies Samsung Electronics with power products with the highest energy efficiency and the lowest noise. These power units have been integrated into Samsung's latest single-door (RR23A2J3XWX, RR23A2G3WDX) and FDR(split: RF18A5101SR) variable frequency refrigerators. Frequency conversion is a new trend of direct current AC conversion in contemporary frequency converter design. Enables product applications to operate more quietly and smoothly than traditional on/off controls, while also reducing average power consumption.
Samsung's first refrigerator designed with a separate unit in the compressor uses Infineon's multiple power solutions: EiceDRIVER, CoolSET Gen 5, and the 600V CoolMOS PFD7 for the compressor motor.
To meet Samsung's requirements for increased efficiency, reduced system costs and reduced noise levels, the Digi Touch Cool and Curd Maestro use a variety of Infineon power solutions: EiceDRIVER gate drive IC, CoolSET Gen 5 for AC/DC conversion, and 600V CoolMOS PFD7 for compressor motor. This is Samsung's first refrigerator design to use a separate unit in the compressor instead of a power module.
The 600 V CoolMOS PFD7 hyperjunction MOSFET, combined with the best-in-class body diode, improves the soft recovery index and the industry's fastest reverse recovery time, making it ideal for home appliance motors. Compared to modular designs, the use of MOSFETs can reduce energy consumption, especially under light load conditions, with an efficiency increase of up to 1.7%. This innovative approach also enables a radiator-free design, reducing system costs by 10 percent, while extending the life of the refrigerator.
