STMicroelectronics announces new STM32G0 microcontroller

     The STM32G0 family of Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontrollers (MCUS) has a new offering and more new features, such as dual-zone flash memory, CAN FD interface and crystal free USB full speed data/host support.

     For budget-conscious applications, the new STM32G050 Value product line, the STM32G051 and STM32G061 mainstream product lines add rich analog capabilities and up to 18KB of RAM memory, as well as up to 48-pin packages priced competitively.

     In addition, the STM32G0B0 Value product line, STM32G0B1 and STM32G0C1 mainstream product lines bring new capabilities to the STM32G0, all three of which integrate a USB 2.0 device/host controller and dual-zone flash memory. The STM32G0B1 and STM32G0C1 also add ST's FDCAN peripheral.

     With the addition of an integrated crystal free USB2.0 full speed master-slave dual-mode data interface and USB-C powered controller, the STM32G0 series enables customers to leverage dual-mode capabilities to extend the interoperability of new USB-C devices and develop innovative applications. Since USB dual-mode is about to replace USB On-The-Go (OTG), the STM32G0 can easily complete the role reversal between the device and the host, with a simple USB power supply command to quickly switch between power and power. The FDCAN module provides two CAN 2.0 interfaces and supports CAN FD technology to help integrate innovative functions in industrial systems and automotive diagnostic systems.

     In terms of application development, the NUCLEO-G0B1RE development board and the STM32G0C1E-EV evaluation board are now available to accelerate new project development, and the STM32CubeG0 package provides software such as hardware abstraction layer (HAL), low level (LL) API and middleware.

     With the addition of these new product and technology features, the STM32G0 family now covers 8-100 pin packages, 16-512 KB of on-chip flash memory capacity, and up to 144 KB of large-capacity program data RAM. Flexible and variable operating modes and static modes ensure low power consumption and processing frequencies up to 64MHz. The high precision internal clock signal is very stable over the entire operating temperature range, and the resolution of the high precision timer can be set to twice the CPU processing frequency. The STM32G0 MCU features high noise resistance and a wide range of rated operating temperatures up to 125°C.

     Network security features bring advanced data security protection to consumer electronics, appliances, and industrial applications, including secure boot and firmware updates (SB/SFU), proprietary Code Read Protection (PCROP) to protect vendor intellectual property, and memory Protection units (MPUs) to assist with task partitioning. Product models with the AES-256 hardware encryption acceleration processor were also introduced.

     The new STM32G0 product is now in mass production, and the STM32G050F6P6 value line features a TSSOP20 package and 32 KB flash memory. In the STM32G0B product line, the STM32G0B0KET6 comes in an LQFP32 package and 512 KB flash memory.
