STMicroelectronics' ToF sensors provide high-accuracy distance measurement up to 6 m

     STMicroelectronics' VL53L4CX STMicroelectronics VL53L4CX time-of-flight sensor image is designed for long-range multi-target measurements, providing high-accuracy distance measurements up to 6 m, and excellent results at short distances. A new generation of laser transmitters with an 18° field of view (FoV) improves performance in ambient light.

     Thanks to ST's patented algorithms and innovative module structure, the VL53L4CX is also able to detect multiple objects within the field of view with deep knowledge. The ST histogram algorithm ensures coverslip crosstalk immunity for targets above 80 cm and dynamic smudge compensation for targets below 80 cm. Like all ST FlightSense technology-based ToF sensors, the VL53L4CD records absolute distance measurements regardless of target color and reflectivity. Housed in a tiny reflowable package, the VL53L4CX integrates a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array for excellent ranging performance even when hidden behind various cover glass materials.

     All ST ToF sensors integrate a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) which emits completely invisible 940 nm infrared light and is completely eye safe (Class 1 certification)
