STMicroelectronics' Market-Leading STM32 Microcontroller Accelerates Wireless Product Development

     STMicroelectronics has released new STM32WB wireless microcontroller (MCU) development tools and software to ease the difficulty of designing economical, energy-efficient wireless devices for developers of smart buildings, smart industries and smart infrastructure.As a member of the STM32 family of market-leading Arm Cortex-M microcontrollers, the STM32WB is based on the market-proven STM32Cube ecosystem of widely supported development tools and software resources.

     ST's highly integrated STM32WB monolithically integrates a 2.4GHz RF transceiver and Arm Cortex-M4 and Cortex-M0+ dual-core microcontrollers, eliminating many RF circuit design challenges that increase project development time , and will bring a lot of uncertainty to the project development. Developing a hardware design with STM32WB requires only a few external components, such as selecting an antenna. The STM32WB MCU is equipped with many peripherals, including a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a digital interface and a crystal-less USB 2.0 full-speed interface, depending on the model selected. Protocols supported by the chip include Bluetooth® LE 5.2, Zigbee, OpenThread, and proprietary protocols, including concurrent modes for combinations of these protocols.
