The new eight-way high-side switch from STMicroelectronics has both intelligent functions and design flexibility. The on-resistance RDS(on)(typical value) of each channel is only 110mΩ, which protects the energy efficiency of the system, is compact, and saves PCB space.
0.7A IPS8200HQ and 1.0A IPS8200HQ-1 can control capacitive load, resistive load or inductive load, ground on one side, working voltage 10.5V-36V, compatible with 3.3V/5V logic input, For programmable logic controllers (PLCS), distributed I/O, industrial PC peripherals, and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools. In addition, each switch can be connected to the host controller via a serial interface (SPI) or parallel interface, allowing for greater system design flexibility.
Both switches integrate device protection and use a dedicated diagnostic pin to indicate voltage status to assist the intelligent system in managing operation. Safety features include output overload (OVL) protection per channel, node overheat (OVT) protection, short circuit protection, undervoltage lock (UVLO), and automatic shutdown with ground disconnect. The diagnostic output can indicate normal supply voltage, enclosure overheating, SPI failure, and junction overheating.
In addition, both devices have integrated LED drivers to indicate the operating status of each output channel. The 100mA embedded DC/DC regulator powers LED drivers, SPI logic and input circuits, and can also be used as a power source for external components such as optical couplers or digital isolators.
Both switches comply with the IEC 61000-4 technical standards for ESD electrostatic discharge, burst and surge immunity and are suitable for equipment that must meet the functional and EMC requirements of IEC 61131-2 for industrial control.
The IPS8200HQ and IPS8200HQ-1 are now in production, in an 8mm x 6mm DFN48 package.
