STMicroelectronics Digitally Programmable Synchronous Buck Converter Improves Simplicity and Flexibility in USB Power Delivery Designs

     Featuring an energy-efficient synchronous conversion topology, ST's synchronous step-down DC/DC converter STPD01 has digital programming capabilities and is suitable for USB Power Delivery (PD) applications with a maximum power of 60W.

     The input voltage range of STPD01 is 6V to 26.4V, and the wide voltage input gives customers the flexibility to develop AC multi-port power adapters, USB hubs, PC monitors and smart TVs. The output voltage value can be set through the I2C interface, the voltage regulation range is 3V to 20V, and the minimum voltage regulation range is 20mV, which meets the requirements of PD technical specifications. The device integrates a circuit voltage drop compensation circuit and an internal voltage feedback resistor divider to ensure that the load receives the correct voltage and avoids power losses in copper traces and output power lines affecting the voltage.

     STPD01 has over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection functions. Other built-in features include embedded discharge circuitry, soft-start, under-voltage lockout, and programmable watchdog timer for robust and safe system operation.
