STEVAL-PLC001V1 Industrial PLC Evaluation Board

     STMicroelectronics' STEVAL-PLC001V1 evaluation board is designed for compact PLC factory automation applications. It includes a PLC control unit with digital input and output modules and various connection and interface options. With the TouchGFX graphics engine and STSW-PLC001 software (available for free at www.st.com), the 3.5" TFT touch screen mounted on the PCB provides excellent HMI interaction opportunities, allowing users to experience the advanced functions and utilization of various ST ICs Ready-made examples, including ladder logic demos and other projects.

     The system uses an STM32F746ZGT7 MCU to handle industrial IO and TouchGFX displays, implementing ladder logic programming code and several additional options. One eight-channel CLT01-38SQ7 and two dual-channel CLT03-2Q3 provide a total of 12 industrial inputs. The CLT01-38SQ7 has a 6.25 MHz SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) with daisy-chain capability and reverse polarity. The CLT03-2Q3 has two independent high-side and low-side compatible channels, can be powered by external sensors interfaced to it, and is capable of operating in the 60 V range for fail-safe applications. Twelve industrial outputs are handled by an eight-channel ISO8200AQ and a four-channel low-side IPS4260L. The ISO8200AQ offers daisy-chained SPI and embedded galvanic isolation up to 4 kV, meaning optocouplers are no longer required.

     ST morpho connectors allow connecting additional expansion boards for additional functionality, and USB connectors provide alternative power options if 24 V power is not available
