ST semiconductor high bandwidth common mode filter ensures gigabit serial port signal integrity

     The new common mode filter introduced by STC has a differential bandwidth up to 10.7GHz, which can prevent the new generation serial digital interface from affecting the antenna reception sensitivity of adjacent wireless circuits. The dual channel ECMF2-40A100N10 and the four channel ECMF4-40A100N10 are compatible with high-speed interface standards, including USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB4, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort. The series resistance of the two filters is very small, only 3 Ω, which can reduce eye diagram distortion as much as possible and protect signal integrity. The deep common mode attenuation range (Scc21) of the two filters ranges from 2.4GHz to 7GHz, reaching - 21dB at 5GHz, and effectively preventing Wi Fi  And Bluetooth ® Signal interference from the receiver.

     In addition to solving the problem of antenna receiving sensitivity failure, these filters can also be used for common interface noise reduction function to ensure that the interface complies with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations. The chip has built-in ESD protection functions up to ± 9kV (contact discharge) and ± 20kV (air discharge), exceeding the provisions of IEC 61000-4-2 level 4 specification.

     These two filters are both compact miniature quad flat leadless packages (µ QFN) with a height of only 0.5mm. They are suitable for demanding industrial applications and consumer products, and are very suitable for protecting intelligent factory equipment, video systems, medical equipment, laboratory equipment, home automation systems, set-top boxes, smart TVs, game consoles, laptops, tablets and docking stations.

     The filter evaluation board is now available in two versions, SMA interface and USB-C interface, to facilitate users to connect test equipment and explore more performance of the filter. ECMF2-40A100N6 is packaged with 6-pin 1.35mm x 1.4mm µ QFN-6L, and ECMF4-40A100N10 is packaged with 10 pin 1.35mm x 2.2mm µ QFN-10L
