ST's STM32U5 Universal MCU is PSA Level 3 and SESIP3 security certified

     STMicroelectronics' STM32U585 Universal security microcontroller has passed PSA Level 3 and SESIP[1]3 security certification and has passed three defense tests for logic, board and basic physics, proving that the microcontroller achieves a very high level of network protection. With enhanced tamper resistance and software protection, the STM32U585 is also suitable for controlling PIN Transaction Security (PTS) devices that must meet the technical requirements of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). As a secure universal MCU, the STM32U585 provides developers with a total solution that simplifies the design and production of sales and self-service payment terminals.

     Products that receive the PTS Official Approved Device mark typically require a security chip specifically designed to defend against online and sideband attacks, as well as a separate MCU to manage functions such as the keyboard, display, and USB connection. Now, the STM32U585 single chip integrates all of these functions, which simplifies product design and optimizes production logistics from purchasing and inventory management to final assembly. End manufacturers can also test certified products faster and more easily against applicable standards such as PCI PTS v6.

     The STM32U585 meets the requirements of the Arm Trusted Base System Architecture (TBSA), adopts the Arm TrustZone architecture, and has various typical security functions required to protect connected devices. These include encryption algorithm accelerators, secure data storage, secure firmware installation, secure boot, and secure firmware updates.

     Additional security features put the new product's network protection capabilities ahead of typical general-purpose MCUS, including internal monitoring to wipe confidential data in the event of a jamming attack, which helps meet PCI SSC's POS application requirements. Additional protection features include added sideband attack (SCA) analysis, enhanced encryption for symmetric and asymmetric public key accelerators (AES, PKA); A unique hardware key to secure data storage; And built-in active tamper detection.
