When using WiSE Studio to learn, research, and prototype applications and products, developers can take advantage of the powerful capabilities of Bluetooth LE 5.2 in commercially available products, for example, St's flagship Bluetooth-enabled BlueNRG-LP system chip features faster 2Mbps wireless data transfer, long-distance communication, multiple concurrent connections, mesh networking capabilities, all with low dynamic energy consumption, as low as 18µA/MHz, helping to extend battery life.
WiSE Studio seamlessly integrates with ST BlueNRG's SDK package, and installing the full development environment is simple, just a few mouse clicks away, and free to use. Seconds later, the software presents a feature-rich workspace, complemented by drivers, software libraries, and advanced sample code that enable developers to integrate ST's Bluetooth Low energy products and MEMS sensors to create iot nodes and develop original solutions for industrial, smart home, wearables, and gaming applications. The workspace directly supports the BlueNRG evaluation suite, which includes an onboard ST 6-axis inertia module (LSM6DSOX) or pressure sensor (LPS22HB) or digital microphone (MP34DT05-A) with a machine learning core, finite state machine and advanced digital capabilities.
Code examples and snippets in the workspace help users easily start development projects, such as beacons, multi-device connectivity, telecommunications, sensor networks, wireless serial port emulation, HID HMI devices, security features, remote control, and Firmware over-the-air Update (FOTA). Extensive documentation and quick start guides to help beginners start professional iot solution design or quickly evaluate new ideas.
WiSE Studio is aimed at developers of sensor wireless connectivity solutions for the development of the Internet of Things to transmit data over low-energy Bluetooth connectivity, for example, to transmit data from MEMS sensors with built-in machine learning capabilities; Connecting multiple sensor devices in a smart building or home automation system; Location services such as asset tracking apps. Developers can choose between two different network topologies: take advantage of BlueNRG-LP's multiple concurrent connectivity capabilities to create a gatewire-centric network topology, or use the convenient BlueNRG-Mesh network support to increase the distance and number of nodes and quickly create scalable topologies like mesh connected sensors and building automation nodes.
WiSE Studio is based on Eclipse, the world famous open source C/C++ development environment, and provides users with a fully functional user-friendly graphical workspace, using the GCC compiler and the GNU Arm toolchain composed of GDB/OpenOCD programmers and debuggers. The IDE development environment can be extended to add Eclipse software plug-ins, leveraging the support of the large Eclipse developer community. Plug-ins can be found online or installed directly from within the WiSE Studio environment.
