SCHURTER introduces non-contact switches for the highest hygiene standards

     The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly increased the need for touchless buttons and switches, as viruses and bacteria are often transmitted invisibly through frequently touched surfaces. Numerous contactless switch technologies are attracting the attention of developers and buyers, but not all technologies are the same. There are instances where, under certain conditions (eg splashing water, raining), sensors can capture erroneous signals that can trigger unintended opening/closing of switches.

     The TOF (Time of Flight) optical technology used in the SCHURTER TTS enables highly precise programming and prevents such errors from occurring. The detection distance of the activation switch can be set from 60-0.05mm to ensure that the wiping action to clean the switch surface does not trigger and activate the sensor. The advantage of this custom sensing distance is that in some applications, the switch can act as a photoelectric barrier.

     The switch features a stainless steel housing and provides visual feedback and status display via a two-color ring light (red/green) in the actuator. The input voltage of the actuator is 5-28VDC, the maximum switching voltage is 42VAC/60VDC, and the maximum current is 100mA.
