SCHURTER introduces a vertical design of single-phase high-current chokes

     The SCHURTER series of current compensated chokes that can be mounted on a printed circuit board is now available in a vertical design, and the new DKIV-1 series supports single-phase, high-current applications. Vertical design reduces footprint. The choke is available in ferrite or nanocrystalline magnetic ring versions with A rated current of 10 A to 50 A.

     Like all other aspects of electronic design, the current power supply portion is often achieved by mounting discrete components on a printed circuit board. With the continuous integration of components and the continuous reduction of external dimensions, the thermal problem and high current of printed circuit boards have become a challenge. Traditional blocky filters may address these challenges well, however, due to limited space, these filters also pose challenges due to larger package sizes. Therefore, it is a better solution to install asymmetrically effective common-mode chokes and capacitors on the printed circuit board.

     The DKIV-1 series chokes are fitted through holes and are suitable for any application that requires EMC common mode inductors, such as frequency converters for automation, photovoltaic, energy storage, EV charging stations and UPS systems. This series of chokes is also ideal for multistage filter applications. These applications use both a vertical choke (DKIV) and a horizontal choke (DKIH) to reduce the mutual interference of individual choke magnetic fields.

     The DKIV-1 series meets a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +100 °C, complies with IEC 60938 and is rated at 300 VAC or 450 VDC. Rated current from 10 to 50 A at 300 VAC, according to IEC and UL standards; Rated current is 10 to 50 A at 250 VAC, also CSA compliant. The chokes are also available for ENEC and cURus certified models with a rated voltage of 450VDC.
