Renesas introduces the RAA2230XX series of 700V step-down regulators

Renesas Electronics announced the introduction of a new 700V step-down voltage regulator product family, the RAA2230XX series, giving designers an edge over competing solutions. The new product offers exceptional low power consumption, low noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, as well as system cost advantages, making it ideal for applications as diverse as home appliances, sensing systems (such as smoke alarms and gas sensors), white goods, electricity meters and industrial controls.

The new RAA2230XX step-down regulator consumes only 10mW to 30mW when unloaded, helping system designers meet increasingly stringent requirements for low standby power consumption. With a unique switching algorithm, they minimize electromagnetic interference and eliminate audio noise such as hum or whine, which is common in similar solutions on the market. The new regulator can also provide outputs as low as 3.3V, eliminating the need for a second low voltage differential regulator (LDO), saving on BOM costs and board space.

The new step-down regulator is powered by an AC and depressurized to power Renesas MCUS, sensors and other digital ics. At the same time, Renesas has developed a "winning portfolio" of complementary analog, power, clock and embedded processing products that includes this new product, creating an easy-to-use architecture that simplifies the design process and significantly reduces customer design risk for a variety of applications.
