Renesas Electronics introduced the RE product family as the main controller

     Renesas Electronics, the world's leading provider of semiconductor solutions, announced that Casio Computer, Inc. has adopted Renesas ultra-low power RE product family controllers as the main controller for the new Casio GBD-H1000 "G-SHOCK" watch. The product, with heart rate monitoring and GPS capabilities.

     The GBD-H1000 is the latest addition to the Casio G-SHOCK series of seismic watches and includes: optical sensors that measure heart rate by detecting changes in blood flow under the skin; Triple sensor for measuring compass azimuth, atmospheric pressure/altitude, and temperature; The GPS function can obtain location information, and the acceleration sensor can measure the number of steps and distance traveled. Renesas Ultra-Low Power RE Product family controllers achieve high load processing power inside the watch while consuming extremely little power, helping to create user-friendly watch products. This watch can achieve a variety of functions, daily only solar power.

     The RE product family controller in the new watch is based on Renesas' exclusive SOTB™ process and delivers industry-leading ultra-low power consumption in both active and standby modes. Renesas and Casio collaborated from the very beginning of the development of the GBD-H1000 watch to achieve versatility and low power consumption.
