Renesas Electronics Introduces New CO₂ Sensing Detector Based on Thermopile

     Renesas Electronics Group announced that it has expanded its environmental sensor product lineup with the first family of thermopile-based detectors that integrate optical filters for optical (NDIR) CO2 sensors. The four new single- and dual-channel CO2 gas simulation detectors, all in TO-5 packages, have excellent performance, quality and longevity, making them ideal for all types of industrial, Ideal for medical and IoT applications.

     CO2 levels are a major component of indoor air quality (IAQ) detection, and thermopile-based detectors are key to sensing solutions required for applications such as HVAC control, air quality monitoring, capnography in surgical equipment and ventilator systems . Renesas' new detector provides fast response (with a time constant ranging from 18-25ms) and a high signal-to-noise ratio of 1,981-4,953, meeting the accuracy requirements of high-reliability mission-critical applications. The device is certified for high temperature environments and supports operation up to 125°C.

     The new thermopile-based detector expands Renesas' current lineup of environmental sensors for air quality detection. Customers can combine the new detector-based CO2 sensor with a variety of Renesas sensors, such as the popular ZMOD4410 IAQ platform with embedded AI and IP67-rated packaging, and/or the HS3001 high-performance, high-accuracy relative humidity and temperature sensor. Used in conjunction with Renesas microcontrollers (MCUs), customers can create complete environmental sensing solutions for medical or industrial applications.

     Renesas has combined the new thermopile-based detector with its supporting analog and power devices, as well as the Dialog low-power Bluetooth SoC, to create a new successful product portfolio of thermopile CO2 detectors for ambient CO2 concentration detection. Based on multiple products that work together seamlessly, Renesas has now launched more than 250 "Successful Product Portfolios" for various applications and end products.
