Renesas Electronics Introduces 5V RS-485/422 Transceiver Product Family with Industry's Highest EFT Immunity

     Renesas Electronics Group announced the launch of the RAA78815x product family, 5V RS-485/422 differential transceivers that bring customers industry-leading ±5000V electrical fast transient (EFT) immunity and ESD protection up to ±16000V. The ideal solution for noise-sensitive industrial communication networks. The six new full-duplex and half-duplex enhanced devices released this time comply with both RS-485 and RS-422 communication standards, making them ideal for a variety of industrial networks, process control networks, building automation, long-distance networks and security Camera network and other systems.

     The new products are based on Renesas' current ISL315x 5V RS-485 transceiver product family with an additional EFT-specific noise immunity design. In addition to this, the RAA78815x product family provides excellent differential output voltage, achieving 3.1V in the 54Ω load required by RS-485. The maximum leakage current of the new high-speed transceiver bus is only 125μA, which truly meets the 1/8 rated unit load characteristics of the RS-485 bus. Developers can connect up to 512 transceivers on the same bus without the need for repeaters and without compromising the 32-unit load limit of the RS-485 networking standard. The RAA78815x product family can significantly reduce application deployment and downtime costs as a single network can support more nodes while reducing the likelihood of communication problems due to ESD and EFT overvoltage transients.
