Renesas Electronics Announces Next-Generation WPC Qi 1.3 Certified In-Vehicle Wireless Charging Reference Design

      Renesas Electronics Group, a global supplier of semiconductor solutions, announced the release of the P9261-3C-CRBv2, a next-generation WPC Qi-certified customer reference design for in-vehicle wireless charging. The design meets industry needs and enables automakers to quickly and efficiently implement superior performance and safety features for in-cockpit wireless charging applications.

     The P9261-3C-CRBv2 solution includes the P9261, an automotive-compliant wireless power controller that uses the MP-A13 three-coil reference design as a wireless power transmitter (TX), enabling large-area active power with high efficiency and excellent EMC/EMI performance charging area. This reference design meets the 15W charging requirements of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) Qi 1.3 standard EPP (Extended Power Profile). This solution supports wireless charging proprietary protocols and can provide 50W of power.

     The new P9261-3C-CRBv2 design includes a Renesas RH850 automotive MCU as the main controller, enabling the system to provide functional safety features compliant with Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL B).

     The P9261-3C-CRBv2 EVK (evaluation kit) can be controlled and monitored in real time through a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI provides key parameter data such as selected coil, transmitter status, input voltage, buck output current, Tx power and bridge voltage. The GUI supports simple program modifications as well as firmware updates, as well as debugging of customer-specific variables related to hardware design, such as foreign object detection (FOD) settings.
