
ROHM (headquartered in Kyoto, Japan), a world-renowned semiconductor manufacturer, has launched the 32-bit D/A converter IC (hereinafter referred to as "DAC chip"*) "BD34352EKV" and its Evaluation board "BD34352EKV-EVK-001"
The DAC chip is generally considered to be one of the most important components in determining the sound quality of an audio device, as the information needs to be extracted to a greater extent from the high-resolution digital source data and converted into an analog signal. All along, ROHM's audio product development has paid great attention to sound quality. For example, based on 50 years of experience in the development of audio IC products, we have established "sound quality design technology" that can fully extract sound source information, and launched high-quality sound processor ICs and high-quality audio power supply ICs. Among them, the DAC chip "BD34301EKV" in the "MUS-IC™" series developed as the flagship model has been highly praised for its sound quality and has been widely used around the world. In order to meet the increasing demand from customers for DAC chips for high-end models that can be used in a wider range of audio equipment, ROHM has developed the "BD34352EKV" this time.
"BD34352EKV" is a new product developed for a wider range of audio equipment product needs following the MUS-IC™ DAC chip "BD34301EKV" (in mass production) launched in February 2021. It not only inherits the basic concept of ROHM DAC chip "natural and smooth sound", but also makes some adjustments to express the energy in the sound source more powerfully. In addition, it is equipped with a high-performance digital filter*2 (with the same high performance as the filter installed in the "BD34301EKV", which is also a high-end model), showing excellent performance parameters (SN ratio: 126dB, THD+N: - 112dB), achieving performance consistent with the DAC chips used in high-end models.
Not only that, "BD34352EKV" is also pin compatible with "BD34301EKV", and both use custom digital filters. Using these features, customers can easily achieve different sound quality adjustments for different audio equipment, which will greatly help reduce customer development man-hours and achieve the ideal sound quality effect pursued by manufacturers.
