In recent years, AC/DC converters in the fields of home appliances and industrial equipment must not only support AC input of 85V to 264V to handle AC voltages around the world, but also meet the energy efficiency standards "Energy Star*3" and safety standards "IEC" as a power supply as a whole. 62368”, etc., the power system needs to be constructed from an international perspective. Among them, for the AC/DC converter IC, not only to meet these requirements, but also to use surface-mount packaging to reduce the installation cost in the factory. However, in fact, DMOSFETs and Planar MOSFETs, which generate a lot of loss and heat, are still widely used in AC/DC converter ICs, and even surface-mount packaged products are difficult to meet output power requirements of tens of watts. To address these issues, ROHM has developed a new product with 45W output power that has integrated low-loss SJ-MOSFETs and optimized control circuits in a small surface-mount package.
The new product is an IC that integrates ROHM's low-loss power semiconductor (Super Junction MOSFET, referred to as "SJ-MOSFET") and control circuit, enabling the AC/DC converter with an AC input of 85V to 264V and an output power of 45W. Development just got easier. The new product adopts a surface-mount package, which realizes automatic board mounting, which was difficult in the past; and also adopts a specially developed control circuit, which can also meet the requirements of " IEC 62368*4” standard; at the same time, using ROHM’s own low standby power control technology, the standby power consumption is significantly reduced. Not only that, the highest operating power supply voltage (VCC) can reach 60V, and no external power supply circuit for step-down is required. Compared with ordinary products of the same performance, supporting automatic installation will help to reduce the installation cost of the factory, while also reducing the standby power consumption by more than 90%, and reducing 4 power circuit components, which helps to improve energy saving and reliability sex.
