Qorvo Introduces the First FEM to Support the 5.1 to 7.1 GHz Band in a Single Module

     Qorvo, a leading provider of RF solutions for mobile applications, infrastructure and aerospace and defense applications, has introduced the first wideband front-end module (FEM) covering the 5.1 GHz to 7.1 GHz frequency band. This new tri-band FEM not only maximizes capacity, but also simplifies design, reduces time-to-market, and reduces front-end board space by 50 percent for Wi-Fi 6E enterprise-class architectures. In areas where multiple networks operate simultaneously, Wi-Fi6E reduces network congestion.

     The Qorvo QPF4730 enables manufacturers to develop new, more efficient Wi-Fi architectures optimized for Power over Ethernet (PoE) for higher Quality of Service (QoS), greater range and higher throughput volume demand. This solution maximizes user capacity and makes full use of the available spectrum. In addition, this solution enables manufacturers to design gateways in a smaller form factor than is currently available, meeting user demands for more compact, sleeker and more efficient designs.

     In previous generations of Wi-Fi routers, the radios operated on a fixed frequency (2.4, 5 or 6 GHz) due to the narrowband nature of the available devices. Currently, manufacturers must use a 5 GHz front-end module, a 6 GHz front-end module, and two switches to switch between different radios. The QorvoQPF4730 supports the entire high frequency bandwidth with a single FEM, simplifying the design of the complex MIMO modulation schemes and architectures required for Wi-Fi6E.
